Marianne's Reply: The quick answer is that virtually all RVs are built to be used without hookups for a least a certain period of time Both the fresh water and waste holding tanks will, with some conservation, hold enough to last at least two to three days. Those who are serious boondockers with larger RVs have found other ways to increase this time We drive a small RV and the batteries charge every time we drive.
I admit it. We also moved to an area with a neighborhood well and how do you hook up a refrigerator water line fracking so no telling what else ends up in our water. Simply test tap water, record the TDS number then record the refrigerator water after it has been filters and compare the two numbers. In my testing, the water filter was doing almost nothing to remove the total solids. So, I started looking into other options. Now, these filters are a little more complex but well worth it. The excess water and contaminants left over get dumped in the drain. It is only intended to fill water glasses, etc….

More about how do you hook up a refrigerator water line:
The greatest challenge about this project is finding the cause of the problem, because unfortunately, there are many small things that can cause the refrigerator to stop producing ice. Unplug the refrigerator and move it out from the wall. The valve should be near the back of the refrigerator. Then, disconnect the water line from the refrigerator. Put a bucket beneath the cold water connection to catch any water that falls from the pipe. Give the refrigerator about 24 hours to produce ice. Disconnect the refrigerator once more and turn on the water supply valve to let water out of the cold water pipe.
Well, mine was! Apparently it is a fairly common problem for the water dispenser line in the GE side by side refrigerators to freeze. If you need to check if your line is frozen, simply remove the kick plate off the bottom of the fridge then unhook the water line just under the left door. Simply pull the two blue tabs apart to unhook the line. Place a cup under the line going towards the back of the refrigerator then activate the water dispenser.
A generator is a core component to many people's emergency preparedness plans. Maybe you have a cool charcoal powered or a multi-fuel generator. However many fail to think through how exactly they will power the items they want to run when the grid is down. In June of my family experienced a 10 day power outage. It was eye opening. It was degrees during the day with periods of heavy rain.
